About Nick Garbutt

Nick Garbutt has been at the cutting edge of journalism, public relations and new media for longer than he cares to remember.
He is one of the best respected PR practitioners and media commentators in Northern Ireland and is a former editor of the Irish News, deputy editor of the Belfast Telegraph and head of corporate affairs, Europe for National Australia Bank.
A digital pioneer Nick Garbutt founded the multi-award winning Belfast Telegraph online website back in 1996. He has recently completed his professional diploma in social media marketing.
Nick is well known for his crisis work: handling the PR for Northern Bank when it fell victim to the biggest cash robbery in history is one of his best-known assignments. He is legendary for his coolness under fire, his calm, strategic thinking and his confidentiality in handling difficult issues.
He is passionate about his work and is admired for his intelligence, depth of knowledge, innovation and creativity.
Nick Garbutt is editor of the policy magazine Scope.
For many years Nick has been heavily involved in the voluntary sector, He is a past chair of Start360, and has been a trustee of Audiences NI, Early Years and was a member of the advisory board to the National Trust in Northern Ireland. He is currently a trustee of Victoria Housing Estates.
He is a law graduate from Oriel College, the University of Oxford, where he won a half blue in Judo.

About Ryan Miller

Ryan Miller joined Nick Garbutt after a seven-year stint on Fleet Street, where he worked for a leading news agency, covering major national stories for all the daily newspapers and broadcasters.
His inside knowledge of what the press and media want is a huge asset to our clients: he writes stories that land.
Ryan is a public policy expert. He runs our research and monitoring services, providing vital intelligence to help clients shape strategy and gain influence.
He reports on and analyses policy matters for Scope magazine.
His advanced analytical and logistical skills stem from his background as a brilliant mathematician. 
Ryan has a Masters Degree in Mathematics from the University of Oxford. He represented Oxford at rugby.
